Personality:	Pai-matt can be difficult to work with, as he has a tendency to come off as brash and over-confident. Although he is a reliable worker and dependable officer, who maintains a fine professional relationship with his colleagues, he has few close personal friends. That said, working with him is not without difficulties; his general modus operandi in approaching a problem is an attitude of "I can do it faster and better than you so just let me do it." He has always had a natural aptitude for mathematics and science, and has been known to do elaborate calculations mentally.
Family:	Raised by a single mother on Bajor who worked as a senator. She was killed, however, in the RA Wars leaving Pai-matt alone.
Additional Information:	Pai-matt attended university on Bajor with the intent of becoming a researcher, focusing on cosmology. His interests later changed, however, to exploration and so he went to the Starfleet Academy. Although he did quite well, he felt that the Academy was insufficient in scientific education and so he then attended the Vulcan Science Academy and earned a doctorate in theoretical physics. Following this, wanton for a job, he went back to Starfleet where he began his career as a science officer on the USS Manetheren. This went rather well until he was possessed by reincarnated Pah-wraiths who made him their emissary. Once fully recovered he took several months off to renew his spirits on Bajor, and then was appointed executive officer on Deep Space 9, serving as a liaison between Starfleet and the newly-reformed Bajoran militia. He settled in quite well to his new role on DS9 and became very well-versed in Starfleet operations of all sorts -- engineering, flight control, tactical operations, and command. He also enjoyed working on DS9 because he was left with much time to return to research. Once the Bajoran government caught wind of the nature of this new research, however, they employed political pressure on Starfleet to distance Pai-matt from Bajor, thus resulting in his transfer back to the USS Manetheren-C; only this time, not as a science officer.
